چکیده

We propose a β-decay experiment based on a sample of ultracold atomic tritium. These initial conditions enable detection of the helium ion in coincidence with the β. We construct a two-dimensional fit incorporating both the shape of the β-spectrum and the direct reconstruction of the neutrino mass peak. We present simulation results of the feasible limits on the neutrino mass achievable in this new type of tritium β-decay experiment.

Effect of Relic Neutrino on Neutrino Pair Emission from Metastable Atoms

A possiblity of measuring the cosmic neutrino temperature ∼ 1.9K and other important quantities such as the chemical potential μ and the decoupling temperature Td is discussed, using the recently proposed process of photon irradiated neutrino pair emission from metastable atoms. The Pauli blocking effect of relic neutrinos reduces the rate by a large factor ≈ (1+m1/Td)/4 at the threshold of the...

Higher neutrino mass allowed if Cold Dark Matter and Dark Energy are coupled

Cosmological limits on neutrino masses are softened, by more than a factor 2, if Cold Dark Matter (CDM) and Dark Energy (DE) are coupled. In turn, a neutrino mass yielding Ων up to ∼ 0.20 allows coupling levels β ≃ 0.15 or more, already easing the coincidence problem. The coupling, in fact, displaces both P (k) and Cl spectra in a fashion opposite to neutrino mass. Estimates are obtained throug...

Neutrino Pair Emission from Excited Atoms

We explore a possibility of measuring the absolute magnitude and the nature (Majorana vs Dirac) of neutrino masses, by using a novel process of neutrino pair emission from metastable excited atoms. Except lepton number non-conserving processes, the neutrino pair (ν ¯ ν) emission is the unique process to directly distinguish the Majorana neutrino from the Dirac neu-trino, using the interference ...

Neutrino spectroscopy can probe the dark matter content in the Sun.

After being gravitationally captured, low-mass cold dark-matter particles (mass range from 5 to ~50 × 10(9) electron volts) are thought to drift to the center of the Sun and affect its internal structure. Solar neutrinos provide a way to probe the physical processes occurring in the Sun's core. Solar neutrino spectroscopy, in particular, is expected to measure the neutrino fluxes produced in nu...

Pair Emission from Excited Atoms

We explore a possibility of measuring the magnitude and the Majorana nature of neutrino masses, by using a novel process of neutrino pair emission from excited atoms. Except lepton number non-conserving processes, the neutrino pair (ν ¯ ν) emission is the unique process to distinguish the Ma-jorana neutrino from the Dirac neutrino. The small energy difference between atomic levels makes it easi...
